Bedroom Rituals

This week is all about celebrating L-O-V-E. And we’re going to show you how it’s done….. in the bedroom! Whether you bunk up with a special someone or enjoy lavishing in a nighttime sanctuary for one, the bedroom is a special place inside our home that is dedicated to self love, quiet time, reading to enrich our lives, and restful sleeping… among other things. ; ) Unlike other rooms in the home, the bedroom is ultra-personalized and needs not cater to the wishes or desires of anyone other than its…

California Mountain Retreat, A Flip Project

If you follow me, either here or on Instagram with any regularity, you’ll know that I am absolutely passionate to the core about my custom kitchen and whole home projects. Occasionally however, I like to do something a little different, a bit out of my normal design flow.

Over the course of my career I have flipped nearly a dozen homes. Throughout this slightly different phase of my business journey, I’ve been able to rely on my expertise as a design professional to guide me in selecting finishes and materials that appeal to a broad audience. This design philosophy is especially true if you want to flip a property or create a quick-sale opportunity.

[Pro Flip Tip : Set your personal design style aside. Select backgrounds, finishes, fixtures and even furnishings that allow potential home buyers to envision themselves and their belongings in the home]

As I was working on a recent mountain home project, I decided to travel a bit off of my usual design path, choosing a bit more fresh and modern approach for the design plan. Since the home is in an area with a diverse range of home buyers, ranging from young professional to retirees, it would have been accepted practice to stick with the tried and true. But, as I said before, I wanted to do something different, event if it meant taking a risk with a more unconventional design, but I’m so glad I did.

Taking this unfamiliar approach was nerve-racking and took me right out of my comfort zone but it allowed me to tap into my creativity, something I’m always grateful for.

I’ve fallen completely in love with this flip and the feedback I’ve received has been nothing short of amazing.

I’m proud to share these photos from the project. I’d love to know your thoughts!
